Hi. I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a Mackie Control Universal with 2 Extenders for use with my PT 5.1.1 setup(I'm currently using a HUI). I'm aware of some earlier posts commenting on the fact that the Extender's V-Pots would only control panning. I checked with Mackie Tech. Supt. and the person there said they would control anything except the plug-in parameters and those would have to be controlled from the master unit by bank-switching. I am definitely concerned that I will be able to control the Sends A-E from the Extenders. Now, I'm worried that maybe the Tech. Supt. person wasn't correct. Can anyone with a fairly new (this issue may have been addressed in a more current version) Mackie Control/Extender setup confirm one way or the other on this matter? I'm supposed to be making a decision on the purchase by Monday. Thanks very much. Jeff
I recently purchased a Mackie Control Universal, and I just ordered an extender. [ I use ProTools on an HD3 system as well as Digital Performer]. From my conversations with Mackie regarding Pro Tools control, the extender's faders and pan controls are the sole controls which will work from the extender. I'll be pleasantly surprised if this info is incorrect. jep
I also read that with PT...the main Mackie control has will always be channels 1-8 no matter how many extenders you have or what side of the main unit they sit on. Hope they fix this, it would be nice to have "16 faders - Main controls - 16 faders"(Extender Pack/Main Unit/Extander Pack/Extender Pack)
