To Produceher.. Ya, I did that. it was good. It may be less convenient but we will start using it more and find just where it works the best. Looks like the next budget goes for a spool motor and a few other odds and ends. Thanks. To Nika... Info on digital has sure change since a few years ago when I asked these same questions. I wish I still had them to show. Very detailed posts on why bits were more important than sample rate. Its too bad because we may have been compromising needed headroom for those extra bits. A secondary problem could have been caused by pushing the mixer extra hard...as well as mic pre's. We tried something totally different by setting the 888 to -10 internaly last week.. Ya it was great for the mixer and getting great levels but we knew it was so bizarre we should write in to the Forum and see what happens...well every nutcase on-line came out to beat on us.. no answers..just... you know.... Fifty, Yes, the public knowledge about digital audio is changing, and along with it, the equipment is changing the paradigm by improving so that we don't have to abide by the same myths we did years ago. Let me know if I can help any further. Nika.

Thanks to all ...US, England and Scotland.. (its all just a bunch of cobblers ) Its a pleasure to be able to help someone who actually listens to the answer instead of continually waiting to hear the reply they want. I have typed that information out countless times (learned from reading posts from Nika and the like, and then proving the theory to myself on my own system) but a lot of people just refuse to believe it. The idea is that people who grew up on analog cant get their heads around lower levels, but its actually the younger digital generation who equate loud with good ,that are really perpetuating some of the worst myths. Unfortunately they dont seem to be able to reach for the volume knob. Best of luck.

I had to laugh With You on this one. Your thoughts on 64 bit were really off ...but you came back with a good one to finish. I have got to agree with you... After all the high sample rate equipment had been purchased and everyone is broke....They will spring something on us about 32 bit that we never new before....and of coarse....they will convince us we have to have it. Its an absolute fact....If it doesn't happen ..I will cut my ears off...You are beyond a doubt .. the rightest person on the forum today. jon
