spare wheel housing doubles as a swimming pool!! 

ive just noticed about 1 inch of water floating around in my boot under the spare wheel !. all electrics are fine except for 2 front windows which have to be " pulled" after about half way in order for the continuation of closing. were could the water be coming from and more importantly mot is early dec , could faulty electric windows fail it? p.s . fitted my own rear ariel for a.m reception but some gaps are visible. any advise is very much appreciated. ***REGRET NOT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.. BUT WHAT YOU HAVEN"T***

Hi., I have the same problem with my 98 V40 approx 1" of water. i have been underneath with inspection lamp..check all window seals etc etc even local Volvo dealers have found nothing....in the end i drilled a small hole in the well..problem solved!!

Water can get past the rear light seals which requires the removal of the light clusters and cleaning/replacing of the seals, although it may not be obvious water can also get under the tailgate/boot seal, I've cured this problem in the past by completely removing the rubber seal, cleaning the seal and mating face then applying a good contact adhesive to the seal before refitting.Another place water can get in is through the rear bumper mounting bolt seals as these are known to perish, the bolts are hidden behind the plastic trim panel in the boot. It can be a good idea to get into the boot of the car and watch for leaks whilst someone sprays the rear of the car with a hose.

Simple condensation accounts for a lot of water in any vehicle, even well insulated.
