Hi realto and welcome to the forums- Are you by chance using the Compress Test .avs to encode the full movie? To check, open the .avs and see if this line near the bottom is activated (no "#" in front of it): SelectRangeEvery(280,14) If so, either put the "#" to the left of it or delete the line and try again.
I checked the file. I can quote it here for the part you speak of: # COMPRESSIBILITY CHECK # !!!!Snip Size now has to be 14 for use in GKnot! #SelectRangeEvery(280,14) # # FOOL CCEnc #ResampleAudio(44100) This is what it looks like with no editing from me. I didn't really understand what you meant, but maybe you can tell me if it is right or wrong...

Hi- That portion of the .avs looks OK to me, but a couple of things you said make me wonder: Warning: number of counted frames differs from settings! and: I then get two passes finished and end up with a 26-32 mb avi file that looks like a preview. The file size you're getting (before audio is added I'm assuming) points to that mistake. A couple of ways to check-open the finished .avi in Nandub and start advancing a frame at a time. If I'm correct, you should get a switch every 14 frames. Another way to check is to divide the settings frames by 20 and it should come out close to the counted frames (or vice-versa, I forget-divide the larger number). I'm not really sure what you mean that it looks like a preview. Do you mean that it looks real jerky when played? Another thing to check is to go into the encoder tab of GKnot and make sure that the frame server is pointing to the .avs that you showed me part of. But if I'm wrong, you might have to look into such things as deleting DivX4 if you also have it installed, reinstalling DivX5, or reinstalling GKnot (after Deleting Registry Keys in the Options Tab), and then reinstalling DivX5 again afterwards.

Just a thought - Is the FPS box showing 25 fps? Or is it set to 23.976 or 30fps? I have heard that if you mistakenly change this it will cause problems. Mac
Thank you for the help guys... 1 question, is there any special options needed to be tick in DVD2AVI beside Yuv options? and i did look at my avs, d2v files, they all seems to be fine..(can be view in both GKnot and VDub), so i am just wondering if there might be something wrong with my MV or log files how can i check them??( do they have anything to do with my prob? I have no idea what they are hee hee. sorry to sound so stupid) I am going to redo the whole process slowly....using GKnot but i'll have to finish me uni assignment first...why do uni make us work so hard??? :D
the .log file produced by the first pass (not the gknot .log), is a frame-by-frame analysis of the video stream. It is used by the second pass to make the encoding. It's mandatory for 2-pass encoding. Your first pass only found 3316 frames, which is 00:02:12.64 of video. The more I think about this, the more I think it's codec -- or you ran out of disk space during the first pass. But I'd think you'd have seen different errors. If you didn't run out of space, then try re-installing Divx 5. It couldn't hurt anything, and might eliminate this problem.
Me again... Ok, I think i'll re download and reinstall my DivX 5 pro, in the mean time, i wonder this (the following) have any thing to do with my prob. 2CDs encoding after following all steps ... adjusting with the slider of uotput resolution at: @704x288, Sharp Bicubic, 5% comp check results shows, 0.356 -99% -0.359 *no error (but comp check=0.356) 0.322 -89.7% -0.359 *prob: w-zoom 104% 0.268 -74.1% -0.359 *prob: w-zoom 113% @736x304, 0.356 -101.5% -0.350 *prob: Pixel/Frame 101.5% 0.322 -92.0% -0.350 *prob: w-zoom 104% 0.268 -76.6% -0.350 *prob: w-zoom 113% @800x336, 0.356 -115.2% -0.309 *prob: Pixel/Frame 115.2% 0.322 -104% -0.309 *prob: w-zoom 104%, Pixel/Frame 104.4% (try to attach a screen shot of the above 'error' but don't know how :P , it shows the screen where u select the output resolution selections) 0.268 -86.9% -0.309 *prob: w-zoom 113% could this make it all stuffed up?? i did unstall and reinstall DIvX5.. again, but this time it counted to approx 500~ and finished the first pass.i think it is the codec. guess i'll try the manual method after i try the GKnot again tonight... I won't give up that easy!!!! Thanks for all ur help
