I don't think it is the codec per se...I think messing with some of Gnot's settings does it.I have encoded video and it worked and then tried to encode something else and have the same problem. I reinstalled the codec, and it made no difference. I am experimenting with Gnot to see if there is a bug in the settings that causes this when messed with. Good Luck.
FatFree: you may have misread the guide. Use b/p*f numbers as a resolution ESTIMATOR prior to your first compressibility check. At that point, use the load% returned by the test, and any subsequent tests, and ignore b/p*f values.
Ha ha! I have encoded the movie! I have reinstalled DivX 5 (not pro) codec, and seems to work for now. but i'll have to try on others movies just to really make sure if it is working probably. anyone think i should try to install DivX5pro just for try in error or should i stick with the one now since its working.....??
oh man, i don't know any more, after doing one movie, the nex one encounter the exact same prob. , I have not done any advance setting, just doing the normal encoding... man... i'll keep trying. one thing, think net wroking could use up the cpu processing power and cause the prob.? or by using the comp. during encoding(1st pass or 2nd pass) could cause the prob? thanks..

The only way that using your computer while encoding could cause problems is if the computer crashed. Since everything you are doing is digital, using the computer only slows down the encode, and won't alter it. What problems are you still having? Mac

same prob. as i always have... i tried to encode the movie using GKnot and won't get through the first pass easyly (see log I posted above)nothing much have changed, but i did have encoded one movie after i posted(few days ago) but the same prob seems hanging sround... don't understand much y.. I did't do anything to the setting of GKnot (since i am still new at it) nor DivX or Vdub..., Quite sure i followed the guide..since i did a few sucessful encoding... un/reinstalled DivX5 and DivX5 pro, un/reinstalled GKnots...( the usual fix to the prob) i think it might be the codec prob... but not for sure.. Question: It is OK to install XviD as well as DivX?(reason for prob?) but i did the last movie WITH the Xvid installed...hmmm Question: Resolution setting caurse 1st pass stuffed up? ....
another Question... what codec or filters or things is appear in peoples Vdub video-compression selection? I wonder if there is any in conflect in there... BTW how is Realto doing with his encoding??
