Basic Plugin Question

I can seem to get any additional plugins to appear except for those that came with the standard installation of Reaper. I'm specifically looking to get either Proteus or sfz working. Here's what I've done so far: - Created a My_Plugins directory - Added that directory to the VST plug-in paths list under Options -> Preferences -> Plug-ins -> VST - Downloaded and installed Proteus VX and sfz v1.21 (both work fine standalone) - Copied and pasted ProteusVX.dll and sfz.dll into the My_Plugins directory - I've tried restarting Reaper and hitting the Rescan directory buttons My system: - Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 - Reaper v3.0 / x64 What do I need to do to get these plug-ins working? Hello seeker2734 and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. A 64-bit host will only load 64-bit VST(i)s - I'm pretty sure that Proteus VX and sfz are 32-bit. There is talk of a 32-to-64-bit wrapper and you may be able to run Reaper 32-bit on Vista 64, I don't know. ================================================== ========== Make sure that you purchase Nicholas' excellent User Guide and ReaMix docs too. Don't worry, we were all beginners once. You can get a lot of useful advice and pointers here. Reaper is very flexible and has a lot of capabilities and options. Don't try to learn them all - take it step by step, learning as you go. I would think that most of the VST(i)s that you find, especially free ones, are 32-bit. The User Guide is produced independently by "Nicholas"; he does not work for the developers. As you are a new-comer to Reaper I'm sure he would appreciate hearing about possible additions to the Guide to help tohers like you to get started.

Keep Reaper 64 installed
