Record reainsert return

I have a track with an external effectloop using reainsert. I have audio on the track and I want to record the signal coming back in (while sending out). The way I do it now is to create a new track, disable the main output for this track, create a send from the reainsert track to the new track, and the record the output of the new track. Im thinking there has to be an easier way to do this. What is the prefered way to do this? I should add that i dont want to delete the original audio. Thanks in advance.

why don't you ReaInsert the external FX and render as new take as "Online Render"? that's the way i do it at least. you can even apply the mix % button just like with a plugin!

Arm the track with ReaInsert as Record: Output (stereo, latency compensated), hit record and you should be golden. Or not? Btw. Reaper will never delete any audio file as long as you don't use the option "Clean current project directory". EDIT: beingmf, I never even tried that with ReaInsert. that's the great thing since 3.03 (?): just use ReaInsert like ANY vst plugin - including the mix amount! the only thing you have to remember is realtime rendering :)
