Something odd - change latency, glitchy output

Came across something weird today - I've been working on a track (lots and lots of microedits, fwiw), then changed my audio interface's latency settings (bumped it down from 256 to 64 in order to play some midi drums). Opened Reaper back up, everything is distorted (as in buffer-underrun glitchy distorted), though cpu meter shows ~20%. Bump latency back up to 256 again, all is fine. Curiosity piqued, increase it to 512, distorted again. Back to 128, everything's peachy. I'm running an RME fireface 400 (via asio of course), intel quad 4gig, yadda yadda. Anyone shed some light? I remember someone telling me about problems with the latest driver or firmware of the FF400, but you might want to change the titel of your thread to tell people you're talking about the RME Fireface 400.

Never seen that myself (I have a FF400), the glitching when increasing buffer size is quite odd. Reaper uses the audio system buffer size for plugins as well, and some plugins are known to get unhappy when their buffer block size changes. Do the problems persist if you close and restart Reaper? If they go away, that points to a plugin. If by any chance you do zero in on one particular plugin as the problem please let us know, we have a few special cases in the code for finicky plugins.
