Whats good for a cheap quad build or barebones? Any deals? The q6600/dp45dp combo is getting scarce. What other cheapo quad recipies are good for right now?
Well, it ain't Woodstock, that's for sure. Hope you get a reply. I'm kind looking around at some PC options as well.

I'm using this - it was inexpensive and works awesome! Mainboard: Intel DP43TF - doesn't have RAID or onboard video, but is full size with Firewire built in. Should be around $88 CPU: Q9300 - picked up at Microcenter for $129 4GB ddr2-800 Win! I needed the 3 legacy PCI slots because I have the UAD-1 Edit as reference for Motherboard & CPU Motherboard: CPU:
amd 620 quad processor is 99 buks now. if ya dont need to run a ton of resource hog plug ins.. its a good budget option imho. choose yer mainboard.. add the usual stuff..lotsa ram, 32 mb cache 7200 rpm hard drives (70 buks each etc etc.)
Pipe, I just built a quad system based upon the Intel Q9400s (only 65watts) and the Gigabyte GA- EP45-ED3P (I needed two old PCI slots). I also bought an OCZ 650 watt ModXtreme Power Supply that's really nice. Graphics card, I went cheap because I don't play games...EAH 4350, fanless. The rest, whatever... But these guts are pretty fine and BFD2 is running at about 1% in Reaper. Woohoo. btw. OCZ power supply is DEAD SILENT. Nothing.

I bought the Intel because I wanted to experiment with Hackintosh installs, which are more difficult to perfect on AMD. I also bought the "s" version of the Q9400 CPU because it runs at 65watts while others ran on twice that much power. It's those kinds of details that informed my decision to buy Intel because AMD prices looked attractive to me, too.
