Interesting Brakes...

I've got a V70 with brakes that are a bit interesting... At the moment if I brake for a while (ie slowing down for a speed limit change, corners etc) they make a noise, and there is some feedback through the pedal (similar to the ABS kicking in) At 172k the pads were estimated to be 60% worn, and it's now at 181k. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Speedo's Fine, no problems there. It does stop ok, but occasionally (in particular at the end of the 1/3 mile that i use to blast my engine... if i get to 70mph by the small crest it's ok... but it's getting a bit more interesting slowing for the 30mph corner that comes up quite soon after) the brakes do that judder that i've described above. Pedal now travels for quite a while before it starts to bite, leaving about another inch of travel before it stops completely It's a very late V70, Dec 1999 build rather than an 850. The main reason the brakes have come apparent as a problem is that I drove my parents C30 and XC90 at the weekend and noticed that mine were lacking, and so paid a bit more attention to what my brakes were doign rather than accepting it as an idiosyncracy of the car.

Jack Thanks for the disc comments; that's been my initial thought as there is a definite lip on the front discs. Will check fluid once my car is parked on the level and has cooled down enough to be an accurate reflection. Thanks for the help, any other suggestions will be appreciated.

sorry guys but i think you are all barking up the wrong tree... in the OP there is clear reference to the pedal juddering as if the abs is coming in.... this is an electrical issue regarding the abs unit, wiring or the sensors nothing to do with worn pads or discs worn or warped discs give a different duller feedback rather than the rapid pulsing of the electonic abs.... cheers jod
