Aircon in an Amazon?

after driving around in 30deg celcius weather for the last few days i have decided that aircon might be a nice idea in my 122S, and I ma wondering if anyone knows of any nice models that might fit easily? I am thinking of finding a nice late model compact jap unit and trying to fit the entire thing under the bonnet, plumbing it in next to the heater to save unnecessary holes or modifications. has anyoen tried this before? any suggestions on good compact units? Also, I am amazed how cool the engine of my 122S stays, what sort of range on the guage is normal? my girl has had a fairly recent radiator change, and around town she gets no more then a needle width over the Cold white line on the guage, and at 100kph driving carefully in the heat she got to a fraction over half on the guage a couple of times, si this a normal range? thanks Ryan

I would look at using the 740 air con set up as a good poible starting point. Its not someing normaly needed as windows are normaly enough!!!

with 1 person windows are fine but noise is too much with multiple people at 30+deg at 100kph

When I visited Hershey auto jumble back in October, there was an amazon for sale within the car coral. It had aircon fitted, it looked a very neat job, at the time I thought it was factory fitted or certainly an option on US cars it fitted that well. I never did speak with the owner, I'm wishing now I'd taken some photos to post here for all to see.

The 740 760 and 260 have fairly simple air con and would keep it all Volvo as well. I'd personaly not have it as its a power sap and increases fuel consuption (39p a litre is a lot for fuel) Howeve I can understand in hotter climates why you would want it and this is probably the best way to do it.

I am an avid fan of engineering programmes, and overhaulin is one of them, they use a company called "vintage air" alot fitting aircon into old cars a lot, they may be able to give you the info you need.
