Hey guys, when inserting a mp3 or wav-file into Reaper, Reaper plays the file about 3.2dB lower than it should. What am I doing wrong? I have yet to try it on my audio pc but this occurs on my macbook pro. Using Reaper 4.402 64bit
Any mastered files I import in Reaper have a meter reading of maximum -3.2dB althought the files went through a limiter with a ceiling value of -0.2dB during mastering before. I just wanted to convert the mastered wav-file (output -0.2db) and create a mp3 with the same level (-0.2dB) afterwards on the macbook but I had to raise 3.2dB manually in Reaper to compensate the -3.2 loss which occured during the import process. I can see it in the metering and you can hear the difference as well.
You're not putting it on a track in a folder, are you? Pan law? Perhaps you can post a short snippet here and tell us what its peak level should be, so that we can see what's (not) happening.
It kinda is like that...think of a stereotrack as two monotracks panned hard, and it will make sense :) Its a consequence of Reaper not having dedicated tracktypes, most other DAWs have something similar to the default pan law in Reaper on mono-tracks, and 0 dB on stereotracks.
