Thought I should warn you guys... They changed the gator file in the DivX 5.1.1 bundle (to fsg_4104.exe)!! and the registry key seems to be :- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{21FFB6C0-0DA1-11D5-A9D5-00500413153C} Other than that Ad-aware/ZoneAlarm seems to get everything. ;-) HTH GreyArea.
As long as the registry key above is left on your computer you can delete all the GAIN files and you should still be able to use the codec. I haven't tried to use it after removing this key. I don't know what Spybot Search and Destroy removes, but Ad-Aware flags this key for removal by default. GreyArea. Ps. I recommend that you buy this codec if you use it often as all updates in the 5.x series are free to registered users and you don't have to worry about spyware.
I just deleted fsg_4104.exe, rebooted the machine and encoded small piece of video in 1 pass mode, just for testing. All went pefectly OK. The strange things however is that the Divx installer have placed this fsg_4104.exe within the TEMP directory! Because i used to clean all TEMPs periodically, the file would have been deleted anyway sometime. Is it normal for this kind of adware? I suppose, placing critical files in such unreliable place as temp dirs are, is merely unusual :)
