How do you get 5.1 surround sound audio with DivX video using GKnot? I've seen some XviD files with 5.1 sound but I think those were muxed with AC3 audio...thank you for any replies.
If your source for the .mp3 was a 5.1dd .ac3, the transcoding will contain Dolby Surround (TM) encoding, which can then be decoded by a Dolby ProLogic (TM) decoder. I use this method to regain surround sound when I playback through my home theatre from my laptop. S-video into TV, and audio into surround sound system that includes ProLogic.

Thanks for the reply... To jggimi: I am confused with the new audio settings for lame for the new GKnot version .27. What would you recommend to use for the audio settings for using mp3 sound in my DivX video to achieve the optimal 5.1 sound? I use WinDVD platinum to view all my DVDs, DivX, and movie files. I think it does have Dolby Prologic II decoder in the player software.
Hi jggimi, I just tried muxing the video with mp3 audio then with ac3 audio to compare. I used PowerDVD XP and WinDVD Platinum to play the resulting files, but I dont not get 5.1 sound even with the AC3 muxed DivX file. I made sure that DPL2 was set on for the mp3 divx file and the file with ac3 should automatically produce 5.1 sound right? I made sure the stream used was the 5 channel stream also. Can you help me on how I can get 5.1 playback of DivX files? Thanks.

Thx for the reply manono, I do have the filter installed. And I do get sound when I play the divx file back...but the audio is in 2 channel and not 5.1. Is there a way to play DivX files in 5.1?
I made two different DivX files, one with MP3 audio, and one with just muxing the AC3 audio. I will post this question in the audio section, thank you for your reply! I wil also try the settings you mentioned. thanks again.
