Thanks for the advice chaps, 4 Forty i'll follow that lead and let you all know the outcome, for what it's worth. Pleinmont, hope you get it all sorted mate, I share your pain.
mattyboy, you could try leaving your details on one of the various parts search sites, the central office search numerous breakers in the uk, and when they find what you are looking for, contact you by e mail or telephone salvogroup are currently breaking a 1999 1.9 turbo diesel!!! or paul
I would take the keys back to the bloke that sold it and shove 'em where the sun don't shine!!!! He obviously knew there was a problem, even on a private sale nowadays you have some comeback. He had to sell a product that was fit for purpose and in a roadworthy condition. I don't think there is any coincidence in the time frame of him selling the car and it dying on it's arse! Try calling him, and if you get no joy/torrent of abuse then time to dob him in to trading standards/small claims court.
I've never had to use salvo but they have a great reputation especially by word of mouth, which is the best endorsement for a company, if they have what you need then I would go for that option. If you were closer to me I could have given you a hand to put the engine in together to save on labour costs. Good luck. Chris
Man, I really appreciate the offer....if I wasn't in London and Salvo weren't in Nottinghamshire or wherever, that would be a lifesaver. Good luck to you mate and thanks agaian. Looks like it's reconditioned-engines.co.uk for me
