I cant Burn at 2x speed

i have a Cendyne 4x dvd-r and 2x blanks but i cant get the things to burn at 2x speed even though dvd decyper says its burning at 2x. whats going on?

If their not pioneer 2x approved you'll never get them to burn at 2x. (unless someone creates a firmware hack) More info on this at pioneer's website and other posts. Basically it's pioneer's way of getting rid of cheap media or not allowing the consumer to use cheap media!

i thought of that but the same thing happened on my Toshiba 2x DVD burner. i just ordered some 4x discs and will wait and see what happens with those. how can you tell what speed blanks really are? mabye all mine are 1x or something.
