If i were to record a longer session, or multiple songs in one project, say 10 songs in a row, in 64 bit FP would that be stupid? Why i would do it, cause im lazy! =) So then i would mix all songs with the first one, they would all get the same ground sound and i can concentrate on the details of each song insted. How dumb is that ona scale from 1 t o10? "flame suit on"

There is really no reason to record it in 64fp. Your converters are 24 bit. The sample depth with be max 24 bit with the rest padded with zeros. No point at all other than chewing up gobs of disk space. Set your project at 24/44.1 and go. I might consider a higher sample rate if you are doing orchestral music or all acoustic instruments. Say 24/88.2 or 24/96khz and even that is questionable whether or not one can REALLY hear a difference. D

i'd definitely stick to 24 bit. recording at 64float will only make a lot more work for your hard disks/controllers. you will chew up a LOT more disk space, and leave more room for something to go wrong (particularly on a longer session). use the 64 float for bounces/fx renders. otherwise, you won't see (hear) any appreciable difference. in terms of the idea of just setting up and recording...i don't see why NOT. give it a try and see how it works for you! kell

I have recorded some lecture series (2 track stereo @ 24 bit) which lasted for about 5 hours and just let it run. Later, after adding some compression I added markers and regions and rendered regions without a hitch. For this recording the 24 bit was overkill but it was a test anyways.
