Beginner MIDI problem

Please keep in mind that I'm a beginner at Reaper. When I record midi, and then play back the file, it always seems to skip over the first midi note, whether it be a quarter note or a whole note. It's always that first note that is skipped over and not recorded. Am I doing something wrong? Dean.

I've had this happen a couple of times and aren't sure of the fix but try changing the Record option from Record input to Record Midi overdub in existing items.
