Here's something interesting. 1. Insert any vsti on a new track, record a sustaining note over a few bars. Press stop. 2. Enlarge the recorded part to the right. 3. Enter the midi editor and drag the right edge of the note to make it longer. It seems that the midi note can not be stretched out beyond the original size of the part. Only way to make the note "get" that the part is now bigger is a) dragging the note off to the right then dragging it back, or b) drawing a new note after the old one. So is there some obscure setting that I've missed or is it a (quite possibly known) bug? Also, has it always been like this? I've never noticed it until recently. Edit: of course you don't need to insert a vsti, just enabling midi input for the track and recording a note is enough :)
Hi cerendir, Have you got the midi track in a folder? Also check the main track for the VSTi, does it have any midi notes on it? I had the same problem a while back when I was just checking the midi funtions in Reaper. I ended up deleteing the midi track but the note was still playing. I don't remember for sure but I think the track I deleted was also on the main VSTi track, in this case it was Kontakt. Tod
Tod, thanks for your suggestions but this happens regardless of vsti, or whether the track even has a vsti in it, or whether it's routed somewhere. In the above example there is just the one track, no hidden ones, no folders. For me this happens with all midi parts, all the time.
Not really sure what happened and when, but at some point there were complaints about the loop source end marker when the item is not in loop source mode and maybe that's where things got a bit messy (?) there. Not sure if the loop source end marker (not to confuse with the loop selection triangle on top) has anything to do with it but - putting the item in loop source mode (->F2-Item Properties) lets you expand the note, when you reach the end of the item (and the loop source end marker) you're pushing that marker to the right. - setting the ME to "Source beats" lets you expand the note too, but it resets the zoom all the time for some reason.
Steindork, sorry about not responding but this thread fell of the first page so fast I never saw your post. Anyway, this issue appears to have been fixed in 3.31, so big thanks to the devs!
