I'm not sure how I created this: in the attached project there is a single MIDI item with a very simple drums pattern; the item starts at 45.1.00 and only contains a bunch of kick (C2) notes and snare (D2) notes. The snare notes are zombies, that is, they are shown in the editor but they don't play, and cannot be selected/edited/moved/deleted. The snare notes were pasted from another item (which I deleted...), using the commands [Select All Notes], [Copy], [Paste Preserving Position]; I only realized the snare notes were uneditable some time afterwards, I had already made a lot of editing (the undo list is not meaningful). Ciao Fabrizio Windows XP SP3 Reaper 3.1415
Are you sure the snare notes are on the same midi channel the drums are set to. One way to find out is to open the midi editor and check each midi channel at time. Its quite possible that the snare notes are on midi channel 10 but the drum vst is only playing notes from channel 1. Good luck
It's puzzling that the stacked events are not all listed in the Event List Viewer - unless there are simply too any of them? It looks like only the top visible ones are shown. Also - the Remove Selected Duplicate Notes function doesn't seem to work in this case. Interesting.....
Paste Preserving Position couldn't paste the notes past the start of the MIDI item... it's just pasting the clipboard and respecting the positions in measure, that's all. It does not paste with regards to position of item in project.
The events are not in the event list and it looks like they're not in the .RPP either. Look at this: I can go on with this forever, I can delete them with marquee select -> <DEL> but it I can't get through to the first note of a stack. Also note how I can get only notes of 1/2 the length.
How many stacked notes seem to be in that MIDI item? I am examining the .RRP source and in the item I actually find 49 events. Only, the first one is quite strange (line 1134): E 4294952900 90 26 60 Is the first value is the duration of the event?
